Pukeko Pictures is an independent entertainment production house focusing on the development of high quality children’s entertainment properties for a world audience.

Based in New Zealand, Pukeko Pictures is located in Wellington, the city famous for blockbuster movies such as: Avatar, King Kong and Lord of the Rings. The company has a close relationship with Weta Workshop through the involvement of Sir Richard Taylor and Tania Roger. Pukeko’s first production, the WotWots, has launched to great success and is currently broadcast in 90 territories worldwide.

Who is Pukeko Pictures?

Sir Richard Taylor

Five time Oscar and four time Bafta winner, Sir Richard Taylor, is a founding partner of Weta Workshop, with over twenty years experience in the film industry, Richard has created a facility that operates at the cutting edge of the film and television industry.

Tania Roger

Also a founding partner of Weta Workshop, Tania brings creativity, artistry and professionalism to every project she undertakes and is passionate about creating the best quality children’s television possible.

Martin Baynton

Martin Baynton has an international reputation as a respected and successful writer and illustrator of over 30 published children’s books, including: the Jane and the Dragon, and the Fifty the Tractor series. He has worked for the stage, radio, TV and film as a producer, director, screenwriter, script editor and literacy lecturer and motivator.

Andrew Smith

Andrew is the Chief Executive of Pukeko Pictures and is a producer of their successful pre-schooler property the WotWots. Andrew was the supervising producer for Weta Workshop’s hit series Jane and the Dragon, which is now controlled by Pukeko. Previously Andrew was the Commercial Manager for Weta Workshop Ltd, and its affiliated merchandising company Weta Ltd. Joining Weta in 1998, Andrew has been the accountant for all of Weta Workshop's major projects including The Lord of the Rings, Master and Commander, Last Samurai, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and King Kong. He is a chartered accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in New Zealand.
